Description

This piece is based on an English folk song of the same name.  After a short introduction, with fog rising over the sea, the flute introduces the theme, which is more embellished in the second statement. At the peak of the apogee the theme is taken over the piano, supported by a nice counter melody in the flute part.  There is a nice conversation between the flute and the piano including several short piano solo sections, bringing in a contrasting colour and allowing the piano to shine. After reaching the peak of the drama the music dies out and vanishes into the silence.  Both the melody and the arrangement together mirror the sorrowful life of a fisherman.
